How it works

1

Add your PDF

Choose or drag up to 10 PDF files, up to 50 MB each. The target is already set to 100 KB; change it in the list if your form asks for something else.

2

Press Compress

The PDF is rebuilt with lighter image settings, one step at a time, and the first version that fits the limit is kept, so you lose as little quality as possible.

3

Download

Check the new size next to each file and download. Text, links and page order stay the same; only the pictures and scans inside get lighter.

A 100 KB limit for a PDF is tough: a single page scanned on a phone is often 1 to 3 MB. Portals for scholarships, exams, government services and admissions still use it for certificates, ID proofs and mark sheets. This page rebuilds your PDF with progressively lighter image settings and keeps the first version that fits under 100 KB, so the text stays as readable as possible.

What can realistically fit in 100 KB

One or two scanned pages fit comfortably. Three to five pages usually fit if they are mostly text on white paper. A long document full of colour photos will not fit in 100 KB without becoming hard to read; for that, split it with Extract PDF Pages and upload the pages the form actually needs.

PDFs made directly from Word or a website (with real text, not a picture of text) are usually already small. If such a file is over 100 KB, the size is mostly fonts and embedded images, and the gain from compressing may be limited.

Scan smarter to hit 100 KB

Scan or photograph in good light, flat, and crop to the paper. A grey shadow around the page costs as much space as the text itself.

If your scanner app has a “document” or black-and-white mode, use it for text pages. Black-and-white scans compress far better than colour photos of paper.

Already have separate photos of each page? Compress each image to 20–30 KB first, then combine them with JPG to PDF.

Common problems and fixes

My PDF made from Word is still over 100 KB

Text PDFs are mostly fonts, which cannot shrink much. Remove pages you do not need with Remove PDF Pages, or save from Word with standard fonts only.

The scan is readable on screen but blurry when printed

At 100 KB images are reduced to screen resolution. Keep the original for printing and use the small copy only for the upload.

The portal wants every page under 100 KB

Split the document with Extract PDF Pages, then compress each page here.

Where this comes in handy

Certificates and mark sheets

Education documents for admissions and scholarship portals.

ID and address proofs

One-page scans for government and bank forms.

Exam applications

Supporting documents with tiny size limits.

Old portals

Systems that still reject anything over 100 KB.

Frequently asked questions

What if my PDF still ends up over 100 KB?

You get the smallest version possible and a note that the target could not be met. Remove pages you do not need with Remove PDF Pages, or split the document, and try again.

Will the text become blurry?

Real (selectable) text stays perfectly sharp; only images and scans are re-compressed. Scanned text gets softer at very small sizes, which is why the tool stops at the first step that fits.

Can I compress several PDFs at once?

Yes, up to 10 files of up to 50 MB each. Each one is brought under 100 KB separately and you can download them as a ZIP.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?

Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then compress.

Are my documents kept?

No. Each file is processed in a private folder that is deleted as soon as the result is sent to you.
