“File must be smaller than 100 KB” is probably the most common upload rule on the internet. Government services, visa and exam portals, universities, banks and job sites use it for photos and scanned documents alike. This page takes any image, from a 12-megapixel phone photo to a PNG screenshot, and gives you a JPG of 100 KB or less, keeping as much quality as that limit allows.
What 100 KB gets you
At 100 KB a typical photo keeps around 800 to 1000 pixels on the long side with good quality. That is enough for a face to look crisp on screen and for a scanned ID card or certificate to stay readable.
Scans of documents compress very well because paper is mostly flat white. A photographed page often fits in 100 KB at a bigger pixel size than a photo of a person, so small print stays legible.
Getting a document photo under 100 KB and still readable
Photograph the document flat, in daylight, filling the frame. Crop off the table around it. Every pixel of background you remove leaves more of the 100 KB for the text.
If the form asks for a PDF rather than an image, compress the image here first and then turn it into a PDF with JPG to PDF, or use Compress PDF to 100 KB on an existing PDF.
Several pages that each need to be under 100 KB? Add them all at once: each file is handled separately and you can download everything as a ZIP.
Common problems and fixes
My scanned certificate became hard to read
Crop away the table and background first, and photograph or scan in good light. Paper compresses well, so text stays sharp when the page fills the frame.
I need several documents under 100 KB each
Add up to 20 files at once. Each is brought under 100 KB on its own, and you can download them together as a ZIP.
The site says the file type is wrong
iPhone HEIC photos are turned into JPG here. If the form wants PDF instead, compress first, then use JPG to PDF.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to 100 KB on my phone?
Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap the upload box and pick the photo from your gallery. Press Compress and then Download. It works the same on iPhone and Android, and there is nothing to install.
Will the result be under 100 KB for sure?
Yes, unless the image is extremely detailed and very large, which is rare. In that case you get the smallest possible version and a clear note, and you can crop the image before trying again.
Does 100 KB mean 100,000 bytes or 102,400?
The tool uses 1 KB = 1024 bytes, so the file is at most 102,400 bytes. Forms that use 100,000 bytes are still satisfied in almost every case because results land a little under the limit; for a hard 100,000-byte limit, choose Custom size and type 97.
Can I keep my PNG as a PNG?
Yes, choose "Keep the original format". For photos JPG is recommended because it keeps far more detail at 100 KB.
Is it free?
Yes, with no account, no watermark and no daily limit.
