How it works

1

Add your images

Choose or drag up to 20 photos. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and iPhone HEIC all work, up to 50 MB each. The target is already set to 1 MB.

2

Press Compress

Quality is lowered step by step first. Only if that is not enough is the image made smaller in pixels, just as far as needed.

3

Download

Every file shows its new size and pixel dimensions. Each result is 1 MB or less, ready for the form or site that asked for it.

A 1 MB cap sounds generous, but today’s phones save photos of 3 to 8 MB, and camera files are even larger. Insurance claims, rental and job applications, school platforms, and many email and messaging services stop at 1 MB per image. This page keeps your photos high resolution while bringing every one of them under 1 MB.

Full quality, smaller file

Under 1 MB a photo can usually keep 2500 pixels or more on the long side at high quality, enough to print a good-looking 6 × 4 inch photo and far more than any phone screen shows. Most of the size drop comes from better JPG encoding, not from losing pixels.

iPhone HEIC photos are converted to JPG in the same step, so they open everywhere: Windows, Android, and every upload form.

Before you send several photos

Email services usually limit the whole message to about 20 to 25 MB. Twenty photos at 1 MB each fit comfortably, where the originals would not. Compress them all here, download the ZIP, and attach it.

If the form or service limits the total size of all files, choose a smaller target such as 500 KB or 200 KB so everything fits.

Common problems and fixes

My photo was already under 1 MB

With Keep the original format, untouched files come back unchanged. With JPG output, the photo is converted but still kept under 1 MB.

Is 1 MB enough for printing?

Usually yes for prints up to about 6 × 4 inches, because photos keep 2500 or more pixels on the long side. Keep the original for big prints.

The upload limit counts all files together

If a form allows 1 MB in total, choose 200 KB or 500 KB per photo so the whole set fits.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1 MB here 1000 KB or 1024 KB?

It is 1024 KB (1,048,576 bytes). Results are normally a little below that, so they also pass forms that count 1 MB as 1,000,000 bytes.

Will my photo be resized?

Only if necessary. Most phone photos fit under 1 MB at their full or nearly full resolution once re-encoded; the final pixel size is shown next to each file.

Can I upload RAW camera files?

Upload JPG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, AVIF or HEIC. Export RAW files to JPG or TIFF in your camera software first.

Is there a limit on how many photos?

Twenty per batch. You can run as many batches as you like.
