How it works

1

Add your images

Choose or drag up to 20 photos. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and iPhone HEIC all work, up to 50 MB each. The target is already set to 500 KB.

2

Press Compress

Quality is lowered step by step first. Only if that is not enough is the image made smaller in pixels, just as far as needed.

3

Download

Every file shows its new size and pixel dimensions. Each result is 500 KB or less, ready for the form or site that asked for it.

At 500 KB you rarely have to give anything up: a photo still looks sharp on a big monitor, yet it is five to ten times smaller than what a modern phone saves. That makes 500 KB a popular limit for website builders, marketplaces, school and work platforms, and a good everyday size for photos you post or send. Drop your images here to get each one under 500 KB.

Why 500 KB is the sweet spot for the web

Big images are the main reason pages load slowly, and slow pages lose visitors and rank lower in search. A hero photo of 300 to 500 KB loads quickly on mobile data while still looking crisp on a laptop. At this size a photo usually keeps around 1800 to 2000 pixels on the long side.

For the smallest files on your own website, also consider WebP: choose "Keep the original format" with a WebP upload, or convert with JPG to WebP first. WebP is often 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same quality.

Listings and portfolios

Shops and classified sites often reject photos over 500 KB or quietly re-compress them, which can make them blurry. Uploading a file that is already under the limit means you decide how it looks, not the site.

Shooting a batch of products? Add 20 photos at once and download them all as a ZIP, each under 500 KB.

Common problems and fixes

My website builder still says the image is too big

Some builders limit pixel width as well as file size. If yours wants, for example, 1600 pixels wide, set that with Resize Image first.

Should I use WebP instead for my site?

WebP is usually 25 to 35 percent smaller at the same quality. Choose Keep the original format with a WebP upload, or convert with JPG to WebP first.

Product photos lost their white background

They have not: JPG keeps white backgrounds. Only transparent PNG backgrounds turn white, which is usually what shops want anyway.

Frequently asked questions

Will people notice the compression?

At 500 KB, almost never. The tool picks the highest quality that fits, so most photos look the same as the original on screen.

What if my image is already under 500 KB?

With "Keep the original format", it is returned untouched. With JPG output, it is converted to JPG and stays under the limit.

Does this work for PNG screenshots?

Yes. Screenshots become JPGs that are usually far smaller. If you need transparency, keep the PNG format instead.

How big can the original be?

Up to 50 MB per image, including RAW-sized TIFF scans and high-resolution camera photos.
