How it works

1

Add your images

Choose or drag up to 20 photos. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and iPhone HEIC all work, up to 50 MB each. The target is already set to 200 KB.

2

Press Compress

Quality is lowered step by step first. Only if that is not enough is the image made smaller in pixels, just as far as needed.

3

Download

Every file shows its new size and pixel dimensions. Each result is 200 KB or less, ready for the form or site that asked for it.

A 200 KB limit is generous enough to keep a photo looking genuinely good, which is why it is used by visa and travel forms, job and freelance platforms, classified ads and many company systems. It is also a sensible size when you want to email a lot of photos without filling someone’s inbox. Upload images here and each one comes back at 200 KB or less.

Quality at 200 KB

At 200 KB most photos keep about 1100 to 1500 pixels on the long side at high JPG quality, enough for a full laptop screen. Small photos are not shrunk at all: if the target can be met by quality alone, the pixel size stays the same.

If your original is already a small, well-compressed JPG under 200 KB and you choose to keep the format, it is returned untouched instead of being re-compressed.

Visa and travel photos

Many online visa forms limit the photo to 200 or 240 KB and also set a pixel size and shape, such as a 600 × 600 square for US visas. Compressing alone does not change the shape. For those forms use the passport and visa photo pages, which crop to the right shape and size and keep the KB limit at the same time.

Common problems and fixes

My US visa photo is under 200 KB but still rejected

Visa forms also check the shape and pixel size, for example a 600 × 600 square. Use the US passport and visa photo page, which sets both.

How sharp will a 200 KB photo be?

Detailed photos usually keep about 1100 to 1500 pixels on the long side at high quality, enough for a full laptop screen.

I want to email lots of photos

Twenty photos at 200 KB are about 4 MB together, well under any email limit. Download them as one ZIP and attach it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compress a whole folder of photos to 200 KB?

Add up to 20 at a time. Each is compressed separately to 200 KB or less and you can download them all as one ZIP.

Why is my file 160 KB and not 200 KB?

Quality is chosen in small steps, so the result is the best step that fits under the limit. A file a little under 200 KB is normal and is accepted everywhere the limit is 200 KB.

Does compression remove location data?

Yes. Camera details and GPS location are not copied into the compressed file, which also saves a little space.

Can I get exactly 1200 pixels wide too?

Use Resize Image to set an exact width and height together with a maximum KB size.
