Online applications almost always ask for a signature image with oddly specific rules: a size like 140 × 60 pixels or 3.5 × 1.5 cm, a JPG between 10 and 20 KB, white background, black ink. Getting all of those right with a phone photo is fiddly. This page resizes your signature to the exact size and saves it inside the KB range, without cutting off any part of it.

Making a clean signature image

Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper, with the signature a little larger than normal. Photograph it in daylight, holding the phone straight above the paper so there is no shadow, and crop tight around the ink before uploading.

Use “Fit inside” so the whole signature is kept and the empty space becomes white. “Crop to fill” could cut off the start or end of your name.

Why forms ask for a minimum KB

A 140 × 60 pixel signature is naturally only 2 to 5 KB, yet many forms demand at least 10 KB. Set Min KB and the image is saved at the highest quality first and then padded with invisible data until it reaches the minimum. The picture itself does not change, and forms accept it.

The opposite problem, a signature that is too big in KB, is solved with Max KB: quality is lowered just enough to fit.

Signatures for documents

To sign Word files, Google Docs or PDFs, use the PNG preset: a sharp, wide image you can insert and scale. For PDFs, insert it as an image in your PDF editor, or add it to a page and convert with Word to PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize my signature to 10–20 KB?

Choose the 140 × 60 px preset (or type your form’s size), keep Min KB at 10 and Max KB at 20, then press Resize. The result is always inside that range.

Will my signature be cut off?

Not with “Fit inside”, which is the default for signature presets. The whole signature is kept and white space fills the rest.

Can I make the background transparent?

Choose PNG for a clean image to place in documents. The paper becomes as white as it was in your photo; for the cleanest result, photograph on bright white paper in good light.

What size is a signature in cm?

It depends on the form. Pick “cm” as the unit and type the numbers from your form; at 200 DPI, 3.5 × 1.5 cm is about 276 × 118 pixels.

Is my signature stored?

No. It is processed and deleted from the server immediately after the result is sent to you.
